Hello children,

I remember when I was in Sunday School, there were 15 of us. All of us came from different family backgrounds. Some were rich, some were not, and some spoke in a different language.

At first, it was difficult for me. But after a few weeks I was happy and enjoyed doing activities with them. It was the prayers and the Word of God that united us.

Children, do you know that the Apostle Paul wrote a beautiful description of love to the Christians living in Corinth. The people there behaved badly to each other. Some of them were envious and others talked badly about their friends.

Paul said if we do not have love, all of our best efforts will mean nothing. Paul said love is patient and kind, does not envy, nor behave badly.

True love thinks about the other person not only of oneself and it does not say, "I will love you only if you love me." According to Paul, true love is given without any conditions.

So children, let us love one another the way God loves us. We pray also for the people who dislike us or whom we dislike.

Hello kids,

Sometimes, when someone has done something nice for us, saying ‘Thank You’ seems not enough.

Some people will write a ‘Thank You’ card or send a flower or gift to express their appreciation.

Children, it is always important to show our appreciation when someone does something for us.

Sometimes, we forget to say ‘Thank You’ to one important person. This important person always provides us food, heals us when we are sick, listens to our sighs and comforts us when we are sad.

Who is this person? Children, He is Jesus, our Saviour. He is always there when we need Him. But how to return His kindness?

Jesus doesn’t want expensive gifts or money but He wants us to help each other. That means, when we visit someone who is sick or pray for someone who is in trouble, we are doing it for Jesus.

Children, we have a lot to be thankful for, haven\'t we? When we look at the many ways God has blessed us, let us thank Him by helping and being a blessing to others.

Dear Children,

Today’s Gospel reminds me about what my grandmother used to say to her grandchildren, “Even if your gift is small, God will treasure it very much!”

One day, Jesus went to the temple and sat down near the place where the offerings were placed.

He saw many rich people, dressed in fine robes, come by and put in a lot of money.

Then, a poor widow came by and put in two small coins. Jesus praised the widow’s gift eventhough she only gave two small coins.

Those two coins were all she had but she gave everything to God.

Children, whenever we do something for God, let’s put our whole heart into it and do the very best we can.

Let us give humbly and because we love God so that the Church has money to help others.

Do not give because we want to show off.God knows everything.

God knows whether the amount we give is given cheerfully and whether it is as much as we should give.

Dear Children,

Do you know that this Sunday we are celebrating the Feast Day of All Saints? It is a holy day of the Church honouring all saints, known and unknown.

Maybe some of you are wondering, “Who are the saints? Why does our Church honour them?”

Children, the Saints are people who had lived with tremendous faith and holiness obedient to God’s will. Those holy men and women, who are worthy of imitation, have been canonized by the Church as our saints.

Some saints are selected as patron saints, special protectors or guardians over particular occupations, illnesses, churches, countries or causes. A patron saint can help us when we follow the example of that saint's life and when we ask for that saint's intercessory prayers to God.

For example, Francis of Assisi loved nature and so he is patron of ecologists, St Anthony of Padua is is patron of the poor, St Nicholas is a special patron of children and The Queen of All Saints is Mary, Virgin Mother of Jesus our King.

Children, I have prepared some famous Church Saints for you to read and colour. Let us ask the saints to pray for us and by their examples and prayers, to lead us closer to Christ.

Dear Kids,

In Jesus’ time, most of His followers thought that Jesus was going to set up an earthly kingdom.

James and John, two brothers, and some of the first disciples, had aspirations for greatness. They asked Jesus for a favour.

They would like to be first in honour when Jesus came into his glory. They wanted Him to agree that they could be with him and share in the power.

Jesus said, “You don’t know what you are asking.” Then he explained that whoever wants to be great must be a servant of all. He said, “Even the Son of Man,came here not to be served but to serve others ...”

Children, a servant of God does not live to please the self but to please only God, as Jesus Christ did. By serving others in need, for God, and in so doing, we imitate God daily. When we are doing good work such as helping or even smiling and greeting people around you, people will notice you because you are so different and unusual.

Children, by doing this good example, we glorify and show our love for God.

Hello kids,

How are you keeping? It has been a great week for me and I hope it was the same for you. Perhaps all of you are busy with studies but do take time off to spend it with our Lord, Jesus Christ, okay.

Children, sometimes we think that having a lot of money is fun. We can buy a lot of things, go anywhere we like and have no worries at all.‘Money can buy anything’ - that’s what people say.

This Sunday’s Gospel tells us a story about a man who knew all about God’s commandments. But when Jesus asked him to sell all his treasure and give his money to the poor, he sadly turned and walked away.

Why? Because this young man had many possessions.Jesus said to His disciples, "How hard it is for rich people to get into the Kingdom of God!" Jesus said this because the young man’s love was for his money.

It was not because he was rich that the young man could not enter the Kingdom but it was because his love for his treasure was greater than his love for God. If anyone wants to enter the Kingdom of God, he must give God first place in life.

Children, we can have lots of money but do not put money or treasure in the first place, okay.

Dear Children,

Do you remember the story that the disciples of Jesus had an argument about which one of them would be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

They thought being great was having the best talent or ability. Then, Jesus called a child over to them. He explained that whoever wanted to be great had to be humble like a child. We must be ready to trust and obey as a little child and be willing to serve others.

Not only the disciples had the wrong idea about the Kingdom of God, they had the wrong idea about little children also. One day some parents were bringing children to Jesus. The disciples knew Jesus was tired and thought it was not too important to spend time on little children.

So they told the parents to go away and leave Jesus alone. But Jesus told the disciples to let the children come to Him. Children, Jesus loves children very much. He loves you! Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is made up of people who are ready to trust and obey him with a simple faith, like a child. The disciples didn't think children were important but Jesus turned their idea upside down. He very gently took the children in his arms and blessed them.

So children, let us remember that you are important to Jesus and He loves you very much!

Hello children,

On August 31st, we will celebrate our 52nd National Day. I know that each of you has your own way to celebrate Independence Day or National Day.

Some may raise our Jalur Gemilang and state flag. Or you may remember our great leaders and heroes from the past.

Children, in the past we were ruled by different leaders — the Portuguese, the Dutch, the Japanese and the English.

Today, we have our own leaders, our own government and our own laws.

Many people fought hard for our freedom and we must always be thankful to them.

Here in Malaysia, we live in a multiracial, multireligious country. We too must show and give good example as children of God by helping others, regardless of race or religion. What is important is that we are all children of God — yes, God loves us all and he makes no distinction.

As we celebrate our 52nd National Day, let us continue to love one another and live in peace and harmony.

Hello children,

It’s the school holidays again! I am sure that all of you have your own plans for this holiday.

Well, I hope that praying and helping your parents are included in your great activities!

Kids, remember last week’s Gospel, when you heard that many people didn’t believe in Jesus. They failed to recognize Jesus as God’s Son.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus was teaching in the synagogue and he said to the people, "I am the living bread that came down from heaven. He who feeds on this bread will live forever."

Many of the listeners did not understand. But some of them became followers of Jesus after that day. Others left Him.

Can you imagine what Jesus felt that day? He tried to save His people but they failed to understand Him and left Him. Of course he felt sad and upset.

When many people were grumbling, Jesus turned to the twelve whom He had chosen to be his disciples and said, “You don’t want to leave too, do you?” Peter spoke up saying, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

Yes, children, maybe many people could not accept Jesus’ teaching but the disciples were not about to turn back.

Children, each day we find ourselves facing difficult situations. We have tough questions to answer and difficult choices to make. But you can trust Jesus to meet our needs in every situation.

So kids, have you decided to follow Jesus? It may not always be easy, but once you have decided to follow him, there is no turning back because Jesus is the Holy One of God!

Be good and enjoy your holidays.

Hello children,

How are you? Fine, I hope. Children, do you know that in the Bible, there were many people who didn’t believe in Jesus.

When Jesus was preaching, they would say, “Who does this man think he is? or “Isn't this Joseph's son?”

And it happened again when Jesus told the crowd in today’s Gospel that “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry.”

The crowd asked among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?'

Children, as we know, it is Jesus alone who can satisfy spiritual hunger. Jesus is the one who can satisfy the longings that men and women have for eternity and only through Jesus, we can have eternal life.

Since Jesus is the Bread of Life, le us partake of Him each day by praying, reading His word and attending Mass every Sunday.

Let us thank Him for providing us with both physical food for our body and spiritual food for our soul.

Dear children,

How many different kinds of bread can you name? There are so many kinds of bread such as garlic bread, white bread, wheat bread, French bread or pita bread.

Some children love to eat bread with cream or with lots of ingredients like raisin and cranberries.

Children,

Do you know that Jesus is like fresh bread — warm, soft and nourishing. In the Gospel today, Jesus said, I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” (Jn 6:35).

Children, Jesus is the basic spiritual staple. As we consume our food daily, it gives us energy and nourishment for our physical bodies.

That is what happens when you ask Jesus to be your Saviour. You ask him into your heart, He comes to live inside you (Holy Spirit), and He becomes a part of you for the rest of your life. But that's the good part! Because God will live forever, so will you! We can be thankful that God has sent Jesus to us as the bread of life.

Hello children,

Don’t you agree that it is really fun to read about the different people in the Bible? There are so many interesting stories on how they tried to avoid doing what God had asked them to do. It was not because they were disobedient or bad but because they did not have confidence in their abilities.

For instance, can you imagine what must have been running through Noah’s mind when God asked him to build a huge boat (an ark) and to take in all the animals into the ark? And can you imagine how Abraham felt when God told him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac?

Even Moses, who was brought up as an Egyptian prince, was reluctant to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

Of course we all remember the person who actually tried to run away from God and ended up being swallowed by a whale. Do you know who this person is? Yes, it was Jonah.

Children, what do you think God is trying to tell us through all these stories? For me, I think that God is telling us that all of us are special and have our own gifts and talents. God wants us to use these gifts and talents to the best of our ability.

God also wants us to trust in him and be assured that He is always by our side — so we should not be afraid to do things especially for the good of others.

Everytime you are not sure of yourself or think that you are not capable of something, think of all the people in the Bible. Many of them were simple persons and have their own weaknesses, yet God used them to do great things.

Hello children,
Last week I watched a tv programme about poor people in the Asia region. I was touched to see how much the people in other countries are suffering.

Some of them are sick and too poor to go to the hospital. And some of them don’t have any food so they have to beg on the street. It was really sad watching the poor and starving children. Many of us here are very fortunate because we have lots of food and when we fall sick our parents take us to the doctor immediately.

Sometimes we take our blessings for granted and are wasteful. Remember all the times we simply wasted food, or threw away our toys because we were bored with them or grumbled when our parents did not buy us designer clothes or shoes?

The next time you think of throwing away your clothes, toys or books, think carefully before doing so. Maybe someone out there needs them more than you. So, do learn to share okay.

Below, is a story about a boy who shared his lunch with 5,000 people! Enjoy the activities and see you next week. Be good, okay?

Dear Children,

Do you know that God wants to talk to you everyday. You are very special to God. How do you think God speaks to you? Would you know His voice if you heard it?

The main way God will speak to you is through His Word, the Bible and today we are celebrating Bible Sunday.

Children, let us spend time to read the Bible, not only on Bible Sunday, but everyday. By reading it daily, we’re getting in touch with Him and getting to know Him.

Through the Bible, God gave us guidelines and rules that tell us how to act and live for the best possible results.

For example, the Bible tells us not to lie because lying leads to trouble. Lying makes people stop trusting us. It spoils friendships. The Bible also tells us about so many important things such us how to honour God and be close to Him, treat others, to handle our money and much more.

So children, do you want a good life? Do you want to have a great relationship with God? I’m sure you do! And the way to do this is to keep on reading the bible!

Hello children,

Did you know God has a book out? His book is the most well-known unique book ever written. It’s the Bible! And next week we will be celebrating Bible Sunday.

I know that all of you have your own bible at home, right? So, let us read God’s word everyday, to know Him more.

God gave us the Bible for our own good, so that all of us can have a wonderful life and a great relationship with him.

Yes, children, the Bible is a very special book. It is really a set of books that were written by many different people under the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. The Bible contains many kinds of books.

Some were written to record important events. Some are collections of songs and poems. These books were put together and called the Bible.

The Old Testament was put together long before the New Testament books were written. Jesus often spoke from parts of the Old Testament as he taught the people.

After Jesus’ life on earth, his followers wrote about him. They wrote about why he came to live on earth, His teachings, how he lived, died and how He rose again from death.

Later on, the church leaders gathered these writings together to form the New Testament.

Read the story of John below and you will understand how the writers wrote some of the stories in the Bible. Have fun and be good, okay?

Hello children,

The gospel today invites us to pray for unconditional faith, the faith of someone like the man called Jairus.

Children, Jairus in the gospel can teach us a deep lesson about unconditional faith. Let us read through the gospel story and find out what he has gone through.

Jairus was a loving father and upset because his beloved daughter was dying. He was a religious man and a man of faith in God. He has heard about Jesus and has heard about his power to heal. He put his faith in Jesus, came to him and begged Jesus to heal his daughter.

As they walked through the streets of the town, some men came up to Jairus and told him that his daughter has died. Oh no! What bad news. After going all the way to bring Jesus to his house to heal his daughter, now she was dead. Jairus was heart broken but Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”

Jairus believed in Jesus so he brought Jesus into the room where his daughter lay dead. And there, he witnessed the raising of his daughter back to life by Jesus!

Children, we can see that Jairus loved his daughter so much and would do anything for her. That is even more true of the love of our Heavenly Father. God loves his children and will always do what is best for them.

The Eucharist that we celebrate is a tremendous act of faith. We believe that Jesus is truly present in his Word and in the Eucharist.

Hello Children,
I’m sure you must be enjoying your holidays right now. Even though it is the school holidays, I hope that all of you will keep on doing your revision or doing your homework.

Children, sometimes we think that we are too young to do anything important for God. But do you remember the story of David, the shepherd boy? He was a boy when he defeated Goliath. When others looked at David, they saw a shepherd boy but when God looked at David, He saw a king.

So children, if you want to do big things like collecting for charity or visiting old folks, you can organize or suggest to your parents/Sunday School teachers to take you or help you.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity. You can read more about this feast on this page.

Enjoy the activities, have fun and be good, okay.

Hello kids,
Do you know that before Jesus was crucified, he prayed for his disciples. He prayed for his disciples because he knew that his disciples had to live in the world and that they would be tempted by the evil things of the world.

Jesus said, if his disciples would come together as one, they would be much stronger. Children, this prayer is for us too. Jesus said that we must stand together as one. So he prayed and asked God to protect them and to help them to be one, just as he and his Father are one.

Children, we may be different in the way we look and we may have different languages and cultures but we must put aside our differences and trust in God. When we are united in him, the whole world will know His love.

I hope that you are also taking the time to read the Bible everyday. The bible is the real treasure for each one of us. There are many interesting stories in the Bible. We’re not just left on our own to understand the Bible.

God gives us priests and teachers to help us know what it means. And the best part of all is that He gives us His Holy Spirit to guide us as we study the Bible.

Hello children,
How are you? I suppose that most of you are having exams this week. I hope that you have been studying hard and revising all your lessons. Do not worry too much about the exams, just do your best!

Children, all of us know how difficult it is to be a friend to someone who is mean or rude. Jesus said, “Love each other as I have loved you.” How about praying for those who always hurt us. We ask Jesus to touch their hard heart because we believe that Jesus loves us all, even that person who is also rude or cunning.

Do not hate those who hurt you. Whenever we feel anger and revenge ask Jesus to comfort and to guide you.

I know, it is not easy to forgive but isn't that what God does ? He doesn't keep count of how many times he has forgiven us. He just keeps on forgiving.

This Thursday (May 21), we will be celebrating the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord. This is the day when Jesus returned to His Father in heaven. But before he left, he told the disciples to continue his work.

Lots of love
Aunty Eli

Hi Kids,
Today we celebrate Palm Sunday. It is the beginning of Holy Week. Today we celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey.

As Jesus entered the town, a large crowd had gathered. The people lined the streets cheering and waving palm branches. They also threw their coats and palms on the road and began to shout ‘Hosanna’. It was a wonderful celebration.

But in just a few days, these people who were shouting “Hosanna!” would be shouting,
“Crucify Him!” because they did not understand Jesus’ mission in this world.

As we enter into Holy Week, let us allow Jesus to enter our hearts and be the centre of our life.

Do you know that, just a few days before Jesus was to be crucified, He said, “My heart is troubled...” Jesus said this because He knew His passion time was approaching.

He was afraid, of course, but did He run away? No, Jesus is not a coward. Even though He knew that He would die on the cross. He did not ask the Father to save Him because Jesus knew His passion and death would save us.

Children, all of us know why Jesus died on the cross. Because He loves us very much.

But why if Jesus loves us so much do we still face troubles in our life? Children, troubles in our life are not supposed to weaken our faith. But like Jesus said, so that God's name will be glorified! We should learn to be like Jesus, who was so brave and faithful in facing His obstacles.

And when we are so overburdened with our problems and troubles...don’t forget, God
is always ready to help us.
