SITIAWAN (Herald Malaysia): On Nov 13, Our Lady of Mercy Curia of St Francis de Sales organised a retreat for all the legionaries under this Curia from 11.00am to 4.30pm. This retreat was in conjunction with the 90th Anniversary of the Legion of Mary. The speaker for the retreat was IJ Sr Teresia. Joseph Tin, the curia President, welcomed the parish priest and the speaker to the event.
The parish priest, Fr Arulnathan Joseph said the opening prayer. Then he welcomed the participants. He was very impressed and happy with the Legion of Mary in the parish which has one Bahasa Malaysia Praesidium, one Tamil Praesidium, one English Praesidium and five Mandarin Praesidiums. He asked the legionaries to continue to do the good works, following the footsteps of our Mother Mary.
The theme for the retreat was How to be a Good Legionary. Sr Teresia, in her welcoming speech, said that she had been in the Legion of Mary for 10 years which was her stepping stone to join the religious life.
Sr Teresia said that to be a good legionary, one must be faithful, obedient, discliplined, helpful, humble, persevering, united, self sacrificing, patient, joyful, prayerful, loving and a good listener.
The members were divided into a few groups for their sharing. After that, a representative from each group came forward to present the sharing. All the legionaries shared that the Legion of Mary has a big impact in their lives, and even on the lives of some people with whom they have come in contact.
Our Lady of Mercy Curia consists of the following praesidia: Star of the Sea (M), Mediatrix of All Graces (M), Our Lady of the Golden Jubilee (M), Our Lady of the Universe (M), Queen of All Angels (M), Our Lady, Mother of Grace (E), Our Lady of Velanganny (T), Ratu Surgawi (BM).
Most of the Legionaries were very satisfied and filled with the spirit after the retreat and look forward for another retreat next year.
