Dear Editor,
I am already in my late 70’s and was puzzled and confused as to why Corpus Christi Sunday was not given its importance at the Church of the Holy Family in Kajang.

On Corpus Christi Sunday, the said Parish celebrated Parish Marriage Day. All attention was on the couples who registered to be part of the celebration, who were seated in the front pews very smartly attired, some with head gear etc. which actually drew the congregation’s attention away from the sanctuary where the Holy Mass was being celebrated. Much emphasis was placed on the couples and there was no reverence and dignity given to the feast of the day. There was no procession of the Blessed Sacrament, only an announcement to say that immediately after Mass, there would be the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in church while all the couples happily walked off to the church hall for a meal of celebration.

This is the first time, after many, many years in Kajang, that I am deeply saddened by how we teach the richness of our faith to both old and young, especially the young ones, whose knowledge of their faithneeds imporvement.

There are many of my friends who share the above confusion. Therefore, we are seeking clarification as to whether Parish Marriage Day can be celebrated on Corpus Christi Sunday?
