Corpus Christi is a celebration of thanksgiving to Jesus who gave us his Sacred Body and Blood for the salvation of the whole world.

The multilingual Mass at the Church of St Francis de Sales was celebrated by parish priest, Fr Vincent Paul, with about 600 people from the different communities, including East Malaysians.

In his homily, Fr Vincent explained that the celebration of Corpus Christi was introduced by Pope Urban IV in the year 1264.

The celebration of the solemnity is to remind us to repent for the sins committed against the Holy Spirit. This is the foundation of our faith. To do this, we must fully repent. We should ask ourselves why Jesus gave us His Body and Blood. The presence of Jesus in the bread and wine is because He wants to live in us.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the large crowd, with Fr Vincent carrying the monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament, walked in procession from the church compound and along the roads aroound the church. Along the way, the rosary was recited in all the languages. Finally, all re-entered the church for Benediction.

Before the final blessing, Fr Vincent congratulated and thanked the various church ministries for their continued support for the celebration.
