AS Chinese New Year dawns on many underprivileged Chinese families in Batu Kitang and Kota Sentosa constituencies, the DAP hopes to lift their spirits with its distribution of meat to them.

The programme to give out pork to some 100 families was carried out by DAP Batu Kitang branch deputy chairman Jack Murch James.

DAP Batu Kitang chairman Abdul Aziz Isa said that given the importance of food in Chinese culture, it was not surprising that certain dishes play a major role in Chinese New Year celebrations.

He said that while people were celebrating this festive season, one should not forget that there are many others around who are less fortunate and hungry with little to no food to enjoy this auspicious celebration.

In thanking the donor for the charity programme, he said the party will continue to serve everyone regardless of their race, religion or political affiliations.

“It is our hope that these contributions will enable them to celebrate the Chinese New Year in a more meaningful way and wished everyone a Happy New Year with more luck, success and prosperity.”––thenewsarawak.com

Really nice gesture of recognising and respect the culture of the Malaysians celebrating an auspicious festival and in this case, the Chinese New Year. We need more and more Malaysians to be open and generous in this way. May God continue to bless the people and the leaders of the Batu Kitang and Kota Sentosa constituencies
