Eagle's wing ministry out reach and awareness programme

This year, Eagle’s Wing Ministry (EWM) from the Church of St Joseph will be visiting churches as part of their outreach programme to identify persons with different capabilities (PWDC) in their communities, so that they will not be left out but, rather, be included and integrated into society. This interaction with others will help them rediscover their self-worth and live with dignity.

KUALA LUMPUR: This year, Eagle’s Wing Ministry (EWM) from the Church of St Joseph will be visiting churches as part of their outreach programme to identify persons with different capabilities (PWDC) in their communities, so that they will not be left out but, rather, be included and integrated into society. This interaction with others will help them rediscover their self-worth and live with dignity.

Eagle’s Wing family gathered at St. Joseph Church and took off on Eagle’s “WING OF HOPE” to BUILD A BRIDGE OF LOVE and to spread the GOSPEL OF JOY. We were greeted with a warm welcome by Rev. Fr. Edwin Peter, the Parish Priest and his team. Sacred Heart Church opened its Doors and gave us the opportunity to proclaim the WORD and offer up gifts as a sign of THANKSGIVING to our Lord Jesus Christ.

A cake, made by Peter (PWDC), a basket of sweets and a banner were carried by Kelvin Daniel and A. David, as the Offertory Gifts. A slide show of EWM activities was projected during the homily, followed by a short sharing by Reena Josefa. After Mass, we adjourned to the Church Hall for fellowship, which was prepared by Mary Wong and her team. After fellowship, the Youths of Sacred Heart Church sang a few Praise and Worship songs. EWM Youths, Sharon Sharmila and Nicholas shared on their experiences, with us who are with special needs. David, the Chief Coordinator shared on Accessibility, special aids and OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) Card and the importance of registering with the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat(JKM). John Baptist shared on how he became a part of EWM family.

Haivan and Sonia who are our special kids sang a song. Fr. Edwin also said a few words to encourage all who were there, especially the Sacred Heart Youths to “Be The Wind Beneath The Wings”. Then, we concluded and summarised our session by thanking God for all His blessings and a closing prayer. Ff. Edwin gave us an ice-cream treat.

We all returned home with much joy in our hearts. Thank You Sacred Heart Church.

Our hope and desire is to see more DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSON to come forward to serve and form a group that will cater to their needs. There Is No Separate Church For Persons With Different Capabilities.

Christianity shows us that PWDC have the Role Of Teaching Others Humility and Charity. This is important for A Peaceful Life with Respect and Love for Each Other.--SJC
