St Ignatius Church (SIC) held an outdoor candlelight procession on Sunday, June 23 as part of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ or Corpus Christi. It started off with Mass at 6.00pm, with SIC parish priest Fr Andrew Wong CDD as the main celebrant and Fr Albet Arockiasamy (parish priest, Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe) as concelebrant.

After Mass, Fr Wong carried the monstrance and boarded a pick-up vehicle, decorated with flowers, to begin the procession. Some 650 parishioners joined in the procession around the Taman Mayang neighbourhood. It was a rare occasion when Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament exited the church and was brought into public view.

Along the way, parishioners joined the altar servers, extraordinary ministers of holy communion, flower girls, hospitality ministers and other volunteers in proclaiming the presence of Our Lord through Gospel readings, recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and singing hymns in English, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia and Tamil. The priests took turns to hold the monstrance during the journey.

With the theme Encountering Christ, the 2.37km procession stopped at four locations, signifying the four corners of the world, before turning back towards SIC for Benediction.

After that, a fellowship dinner was held for all present.
