KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with the Extraordinary Missionary Year, here are four sections to this Examination of Conscience which are available for supplementary use:

1. Encounter with Christ
2. Testimony of Mission
3. Missionary Formation
4. Missionary Charity

Encounter with Christ
--Do I recognise the truth of who I am as a baptised person?
-- Does Jesus mean something to me and, who is Jesus to me on a personal level?
-- How often have I spent time in prayer, establishing a deeper relationship with Jesus?
-- Have I made any attempt to get to know Jesus by reading the gospels, to be familiar with him and allow the Gospels to influence my life?
-- Can I truly say, with all honesty, that I am a genuine follower of Jesus?
-- Do I turn to God in prayer on a regular basis or is it only when I want something from God?
-- Do I turn to God often during the day, especially when I am tempted?
-- Do I truly love God above all things, or are my real priorities elsewhere: money, material things, relationships, success, or selfish desires?
-- What makes me go for Sunday Mass?
-- When I am at Mass, how do I participate by praying and singing — or am I there as a spectator waiting to be entertained?
-- Have I acknowledged the true presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist and received Holy Communion with respect and reverence?
-- Have I been to the Sacrament of Reconciliation in an effort to turn away from sin and believe in Jesus?
-- Have I been able to give up dabbling in superstitions and the occult in order to follow Jesus fully?
-- Have I opened my heart for God to work with it?

Testimony of Mission
-- As a baptised person, how does my life reflect being a true disciple of Jesus?
-- Have I set a bad example through my words or actions?
-- Do I merely practice my religion out of habit, or do I maintain my social image, friends, or to avoid being hassled?
-- Have I been transparent in my actions and in my relationships with others as a true disciple of Jesus, especially with members of my family, my friends and people at work?
-- Have I failed to be a missionary disciple by not being active in the activities of the church?
-- Have I been too selfish, too individualistic, in a way that I have failed to be an active member to “go forth” to help bring the good news to the poor, that includes those on the fringes of society, the marginalised?
-- Am I a witness of Jesus whose disciple I am?
-- Am I open to being transformed or to being an agent of transformation by involving myself in bringing the joy of the Gospel to others? ? Have I been lukewarm in my efforts to proclaim the love of Jesus to all peoples?
-- Do I poke fun of religion or the Church or clerical and lay leaders?
-- Have I taken pains to model myself on the life of any saints?
-- Have I read about my patron saint whose name I bear or on the saint whose feast falls on my birthday?
-- Have I watched videos on the life of saints and lay missionaries and shared these via the social media?

Missionary Formation
--What have I done for my own on-going faith development?
--Have I been passive in my attitude to be a more enthusiastic follower of Christ?
-- Do my own personal reflections, my reading, and my conversations with others reflect a sincere desire to know and to follow Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life?
-- Have I ever made attempts to deepen my development and growth in faith or have I simply been a passive disciple of Jesus?
-- Have I ever been keen to participate in Church formation sessions so that I can actively become a more committed follower of Jesus?
-- To what extent do I give to world entertainment, secular activities as compared to giving more time to take my faith seriously?
-- Have I thought and attempted to undergo some form of renewal in following the Gospel and the person of Jesus Christ?
-- Do I try to deepen my understanding of the faith and take advantage of opportunities to grow in my faith?
-- Have I utilised the faith formation opportunities offered by the Church as a vehicle of formation or taken up any Church related online courses?
-- Have I joined the various Bible and prayer ministries that are in my parish?
-- Have I walked with someone and allowed myself to be mentored in my journey of faith?

Missionary Charity
-- To what extent have I as a baptised person, a member of the Church committed myself in the service of transforming the community?
-- Have I been an agent of evangelisation in bringing the joy of the gospel to others, especially the weak and those in most need of my care and friendship?
-- Have I led a self-centred life, focusing only on my wants, my desires and concerns and shut my eyes and heart to the plight of others?
-- Have I failed to see the ‘signs of the times” of the presence of Christ’s love in those most in need because of my concerns for my own needs?
-- How have I consciously engaged in works of charity – helped or contributed any time in promoting the Kingdom of God by providing service, in any church related charitable organisation?
-- To what extent can I truly say that I have committed the grave sin of omission in failing to care for the less fortunate than me?
-- To what extent have I heeded Christ’s call to me to give help to the least, the last, the lost, the little?
-- When was the last time I gave up something good to do something for those engaged in the work of mission – both corporal works and spiritual works of mercy?
-- How much financial support do I give to mission work and missionaries?
-- Have I involved myself in the social concern ministries of my parish and BEC by offering my services in bringing the values of the gospels to those in need?
