TELUK INTAN:The faith formators from the Parish of St Anthony took a pledge before starting their service in the parish for the year 2019. This was in conjunction with the opening of the Extraordinary Missionary Year.

Pope Francis has set October 2019 to be Extraordinary Missionary Month to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Pope Benedict XV Apostolic Letter Maximum Illud with the theme Baptised and Sent. The Bishops of Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore have set the whole year, starting from January 6, to prepare for the Mission as Action speaks louder than words.

According to the Catechism coordinator Mrs Mary Anne, besides the 10 catechists, there are also six helpers for the classes. According to her, many of the helpers are the post confirmed students who were inspired to volunteer their services. They are excited to share their faith in the ministry. The age of teachers and helpers range from 17 to 60 years, showing that age is not a factor of Mission, the willingness to serve is most important in a mission. Through our action and way of life, others will be able to witness Christ. This is what we Catholics are called to be — “Baptised and Sent.” — By Patrick Au
