TAWAU (Herald Malaysia): The Filipino Pastoral Committee (FPC) from the Holy Trinity Parish organized a Family Day Sept 16. More than 300 members of the Filipino community participated in the event.

Msgr Nicholas Ong, the rector, his assistant Fr Johnny Raju, lay leaders from other communities and parishioners came to lend their support.

Rufino Pontilas, the Chairman of FPC shared that such an activity helped to build strong relationships among members of the community. It is a platform to build up teamwork among the committee and to look for younger members to commit themselves to serve in the community and the church.

The event began with an Opening Prayer, followed by Praise and Worship. The children, the youth and the adults participated in the vibrant aerobic dance.

The teamwork and support from each member brightened the day. All the members, especially the children, had a wonderful time. Activities included an Explore Race, Filipino traditional games and Tug of War. There was good interaction through the games and the sharing of food. The activity ended at 4.00pm with a Closing Prayer.
