Family Day for Taiping Catholic Church

Family Day for Taiping Catholic Church

Oct 12, 2018

TAIPING: On Malaysia Day, Sept 16, Taiping Catholic Church held the second parish event for 2018, — Parish Family Day.

The Parish Unity Team, together with the Zone Leaders, came together to form the organising committee. The theme chosen for the event was Family Unity Brings Hope. The aim was to get parishioners to come together as a family to participate in some fun and games.

Indoor games such as badminton, futsal, carrom and table football, and a talent show were organised. As the focus was on family, the committee decided that all games/talent show participation should be team events comprising the family. Families could adopt members from within the same BEC or Zone.

The event began at 8.30am with a Family Mass, followed by team-building activities led by the Youth Group of the parish. This was followed by the games at 11.00am. About 400 parishioners participated in the celebration.

Our parish priests Fr Jude Miranda and Fr Michael Dass joined in the Badminton and Carrom challenges and made the games even more exciting. After the games, the talent show ‘TCC Got Talent’ began. Though the number of participants was not as expected, those who took part surprisingly showed much talent. The event ended at around 5.00pm with everyone helping in the clean up.

“This should be a yearly event so that parishioners can get to know each other better,” said a parishioner. “To encourage participation, there should be more games that appeal to the youths and also games that senior citizens can enjoy,” commented another.

This event was something special for the parishioners of Taiping Catholic Church. Firstly, this was the first event to be held in the new Parish Hall. Secondly, this event is the final Parish Event for our beloved parish priest, Fr Jude Miranda who left the Parish on transfer on October 1. — By Francis Fernandez
