The parish feast of the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer was celebrated from Sept 11 to Sept 20, the main theme being God Renews The World Through Us.

On Sept 19, there was a procession around part of Tanjung Malim town. Earlier, the Evening Mass was presided by parish priest, Fr Anthony Pillai and concelebrated with Fr David Lourdusamy from Tapah and Fr Mani from India.

The sub-theme for Sept 19 was The New World Grows Like A Seed. Fr Pillai said that this feast should make us think about how a seed that is planted grows to become a tree which gives shelter to make a better world.

He began his homily with two photographs taken in 1976 of the late DPP Kevin Morais and his brother Charles Morais who were active choir members in Silibin Church.

Fr Pillai quoted from the first Reading about wicked people. Those who killed Kevin will not be at peace. Justice will catch up with them. He said that although so many evil things happen, we still believe God is in total control and will uphold us.

In the second Reading from St James, Fr Pillai said that peacemakers sow seeds of justice. Whereas jealousy and selfishness within us can control us so that evil will manifest itself.

Fr Pillai added that the Cross is not the end. Jesus has risen and there is eternal life. What we celebrate today, we need to believe in: the Most Holy Redeemer, Jesus has risen and is our Saviour.

He asked his parishioners to be a welcoming community. “Today is a good opportunity to welcome people from outside the parish”. Fr Pillai invited them to open up their hearts and minds to greet other parishioners and visitors. This will bring us closer to each other in Christ’s love.

After the procession returned to the Church, Benediction was conducted by Fr David at the newly built grotto. Fr Pillai thanked everyone for coming to celebrate the parish feast day. He also thanked Fr David and Fr Mani for their participation.
