In conjunction with the International Day of Peace Sep 21, the Malaysian Consultative Council for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) Melaka Branch, organised a Harmony Walk to promote peace, harmony, acceptance and understanding among the various religious groups.

The route was as follows :

1) Church of St Francis Xavier Melaka, Jalan Banda Kaba
2) Hu Hai Taoist Temple, Jalan Kampung Pantai
3) Sri PoyyathaVinayagar Moorthy Temple, Jalan Tukang Emas
4) Xiang Lin Buddhist Temple, Jalan Tokong
5) Gurdwara Sahib Temple, Lorong Bukit Cina

We spent about ½ hour at each place of worship and were briefed on the rich history of each place. It was an eye opener to be exposed to such diversity. We are indeed blessed to be Malaysians.

Accompanying us in this Harmony Walk were 38 members from the various religious groups. We were glad of the support shown by the Jabatan Perpaduan Melaka when its Programme Coordinator, Mrs Nadia, joined us despite her busy schedule.

With this initiative, we hope to achieve our mission of continuously promoting goodwill, peace, harmony and understanding among the various religious groups and perhaps make this an annual event.
