KL clergy renewed for mission and evangelisation

Feb 01, 2019

IPOH: The clergy from Kuala Lumpur Archdiocese had their Clergy Annual Pastoral Assembly (CAPA) Jan 14 -17, 2019 at The Haven.

The presentation and facilitation was by Jude Antoine and Alex Choong who are part of the Archdiocesan New Evangelical Committee – the team entrusted to plan the activities for the Extraordinary Missionary Year in the diocese.

They covered topics on the Priest and the New Evangelisation: teaching on call to a New Evangelisation referencing documents of the Catholic Church from Redemptoris Missio, Evangelii Nuntiandi and Evangelii Gaudium and the priest’s role in the New Evangelisation.

In Mission: Building God’s Kingdom, the priests were asked to remember and rekindle their call to priesthood.

On the topic, Priest and Community, examples were given on how a priest can mobilise a community for evangelisation

On the second day, the clergy discussed a more practical approach of setting goals for evangelisation, moving from a parish maintenance to a missionary parish.

This also included the Extraordinary Missionary Year (EMY) 2019 with helping how church leaders at the parish can move to a missionary mindset through the Catholic Leaders Evangelisation Seminars (CLES) organised by the Institute for New Evangelisation (INE) planned for 2019. The session ended with an action planning session for the districts for the Archdiocese.

The final day of the CAPA was reserved for the Lenten Campaign briefing by Fr Bernard Hycinth SJ, Pastoral matters by Msgr Mitchel Anthony and announcements by Archbishop Julian Leow.
