In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the dedication of St Joseph’s Cathedral, the parish launched her Vision and Mission statements, together with a new logo for the Cathedral parish.

After the Kuching Archdiocese Pastoral Assembly (KAPA) in 2017, the parish pastoral council (PPC) and lay groups gathered to discuss the issues and concerns pertaining to the parish community. Under the new PPC in 2018, the council further deliberated on the issues with Fr Larry Tan SJ and came up with the vision and mission of the parish as follows:

Vision: “We are God’s Easter people: called.. chosen…and sent.. to be broken and shared for a new world”

Mission: “We journey together.. to reveal Jesus Christ in us and to make him known, loved by all…”

The PPC also organised a logo competition to design a new logo to reflect the new vision and mission statements. The winning entry was submitted by Michael Lee whose design best represents the vision and mission of the parish.

During the Sunset Mass on March 16, 2019, Archbishop Simon Poh launched the new logo and presented the prize to Michael Lee, the winner of the logo competition.--Today’s Catholic

Brief description of the logo:
The triangular shape of the logo is based on the unique architecture of the Cathedral and also symbolises the Blessed Trinity.

The cross and the circle at the top represent the Eucharist – “the source and summit of the life and mission of the Church.” This symbolises the vision of the parish.

The four persons in the family and the silhouette of a heart shape at the centre symbolises the parish’s mission.

The five rays emanating from the Eucharist symbolise the five core values of the parish namely:

-- Caring for Mother Earth as our common home,
-- Ensuring the sanctity of family life,
-- Comforting the afflicted,
-- Giving voice to the voiceless, and
-- Building bridges to people of other faiths.
