SUBANG: Giving thanks for a year full of love and togetherness, the ME 157 team animated the Sunset Mass which was held at the Church of St Thomas More on July 2. It was a time of reflection on the wonderful graces God had bestowed on the couples and their families throughout the past year since they first attended their weekend in July 2015. The celebration was presided by Fr Raymond Pereira with special blessings and the handing of the marriage prayer bookmarks to the couples.

Marriage Encounter (ME) is designed to give married couples the opportunity to examine their lives together, a time to share their feelings, hopes, disappointments, joys and frustrations and to do so openly and honestly with the one person they have chosen to live with for the rest of their lives.

When asked how the ME has brought changes to them, as a couple and as a family, the couples had amazing things to say: “It wasn’t until the ME weekend that we truly understood the power of marriage being a sacrament — the graces we were able to claim has strengthened us and our children tremendously. We thought we already had a good marriage…God showed us what it should be and how it could be much, much, much better.” --Christopher & Diana

“The past year has made us appreciate the wonders of a union blessed by God. We were able to discover each other at a deeper level, and this has translated in us appreciating our children more deeply.” -- Michael & Carolyn

“With ME, we have learnt to give more importance to our spouses’ opinions, wants and needs.” -- Surien & Angelica

“Communication, that once simply meant talking, has evolved into dialogue…and that is a humbling experience indeed. We strongly recommend the programme to all couples regardless of the number of years they’ve been married. It can only get better.” -- Malcom & Magdalene

Also present were their team presenters who have been journeying with them tirelessly. “In the past one year, ME 157 has journeyed into a closely knit family. It’s simply beautiful to see the love and support they have for each other and the couple power that exists among them now”. -- Francis & Angeline (On behalf of the Presenting Team of ME157)

The celebration concluded with the singing of the M.E theme song followed by fellowship, leaving behind an atmosphere filled with love, friendship and a new found family...For we know we’ll never find another US!--By Christopher & Diana
