Dear Editor,
I read with comfort and joy the full page announcement of the Church of the Assumption Penang (Page 5 HERALD May 26, 2019) as the pilgrim church of the Diocese of Penang.

The announcement invited all pilgrims to six activities which need “doing” with respect to Missionary Works, especially in this Extraordinary Missionary Year.

Everyone (I included) need to constantly promote and share faith with others as a Mission.

“To live is to Christ” (Philippians 1:21) means one consciously chooses to sacrifice time and resources to offer one’s services of Love for the sake of others for the Glory of God’s Holy Name. Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote “to Know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived”.

The March 2019 issue of CANews contains many relevant write-ups on Missionary aspects. All baptised are called to share by means of Encounter, Testimony, Formation and Charity as followers of Jesus Christ. But as we commit ourselves to Mission, one needs to know one’s “actual circumstances”, following each one’s gifted abilities to find authentic and human ways of sharing with others to radiate the Love Of God. St Francis of Assisi once said “Let our walking be our preaching”.

In all, Mission is not merely an activity but the DNA of our Christian identity and existence, all for the Glory of God!
