No problem with using ‘Alla’ in Malta
I have been following the issue about the use of the word ‘Allah’ by Christians in Malaysia. I don’t know whether the following has ever been reported by your newspaper, but you might find this interesting.

I have been following the issue about the use of the word ‘Allah’ by Christians in Malaysia. I don’t know whether the following has ever been reported by your newspaper, but you might find this interesting.
In Malta — an island of 400,000 people in the Mediterranean and a member of the European Union — 95 per cent of us are Catholic, we speak Maltese which comes from an Arabic dialect once spoken in Sicily when the Arabs dominated Sicily more than a thousand years ago, and we use the Arabic word ‘Alla’ for God.
We have never had any problem with any Muslims for using the Arabic word ‘Alla’ for God. We also use the word ‘Mulej’ but that means ‘Lord’, not God.
I don’t know which word Christians in Arabic countries use for ‘God’, but I suspect they also use the word ‘Allah’.
