LAHAD DATU: The First Holy Communion camp was held at Parish St. Dominic.

The 151 attendees from St Dominic Parish and Outstation attended the day-camp held on Sept 23 with 22 facilitators.

The theme of this camp was Experience and Recognising Jesus in the Eucharist.

The programme began with registration, followed by the Enthronement of the Bible at 7.45am led by Fr Simon Kontou.

The first session began with the suaikenal and Icebreaking. This was followed by a workshop on the Sacrament of Baptism facilitated by Sebastian Francis, the Parish Catechetical Committee Coordinator. At the end of the session, the prospective candidates and facilitators answered 14 statements on Baptism.

The next session was on the Eucharist. Sebastian gave an explanation of the full Order of the Mass in the form of group activities.

During the conversion session, the ‘Knee Injury/Spiritual Healing’ activity was held to show the candidates how to go through the process of conversion. After lunch, the candidates participated in an activity ‘Finding Treasure’, where they had to find pictures of items used at Mass.

After the game, an explanation was given on the meaning of each item.

In the last session called “The Prodigal Son workshop,” the participants were divided into groups and had to compile stories about the Prodigal Son. One person from each group had to speak about their findings.

The camp ended with the sharings from the candidates. It is hoped that this camp will be a yearly event.
