Msgr Ionut Paul Strejac was impressed with the dressing of parishioners on Nov 22 at the Chapel of Christ the King (CTK) in celebrating the chapel’s feastday. He said the modest and appropriate dressing symbolizes what is inside us.

Msgr Strejac, who is the Secretary to the Apostolic Nuncio to Malaysia, said this in his homily. The Mass was concelebrated with the chapel’s Administrator, Fr Albet Arockiasamy and Fr Frederick Joseph.

The Romanian priest added that when we think of kings, we think of them in majestic dress and living in palaces. But Jesus, our King is different. He came to the people and touched their lives. “Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. The King of kings who touches, heals, embraces and welcomes everybody into His Father’s Kingdom.

“Today, we renew our commitment to Him, our King, Jesus Christ. We are part of his Kingdom and His Kingship.”

Touching on the feast theme, Sent To Love, Msgr Strejac emphasized the need to bring His love and compassion to others, just like Pope Francis who reaches out to everybody, to share the message of the Joy of Christ. God has touched you. You cannot keep it to yourself, you have to go out and share God’s love. We are His hands, mouth and feet to bring His message to all we meet. We are part of His Body. We are His soldiers, not to fight or kill others, but rather to fight evil.

Msgr Strejac asked the assembly to recognize Jesus in the poor and the sick. Seeing Him in them, we have to reach out to them with the love and compassion of God. Today, we ask Jesus to heal our hearts, eyes, ears in order to recognize Him in others,” Msgr Strejac stressed. “We must start from our own families and ask Jesus to help us to see and recognize the presence of Jesus in our brothers and sisters.”

There was a candlelight procession of the Blessed Sacrament, around part of the Selayang Baru township, led by Msgr Strejac. BEC banners were also carried in procession. The assembly prayed the Rosary. Benediction concluded the celebration, followed by a dinner fellowship in the Chapel grounds.

Fr Albet extended his feastday greetings to one and all. Msgr Strejac asked the assembly to listen to the voice of God and hoped this wonderful community would produce vocations to the priesthood or religious life, for the future of our local Church depends on us. He stressed that the youths are the Church’s future.
