KUALA LUMPUR (Herald Malaysia): A Mass was held at St John’s Institution on Friday, April 7 in conjunction with the Feast of St John Baptist de La Salle.

St John was the founder of the De La Salle Brothers (F.S.C.) and the La Sallian Institutions worldwide. The Mass was held to remember St John Baptist de La Salle and to honour his life and all that he did in turning the last, the lost and the least into the bold, the best and the brave.

The celebration was organised by St John’s Institution’s Catholic Society and Christian Fellowship and they were joined by fellow students from Convent Bukit Nanas and Stella Maris.

The celebrant was Fr Gregory Chan, a former La Sallian and the Director of the Archdiocese Single Adults and Youth Office (ASAYO). The Teacher Advisors of St John’s Institution’s Catholic Society, Mr Jesu Iruthaya Nathan and Christian Fellowship, Madam Elizabeth Easaw welcomed all the attendees. Also at hand to welcome them was the Chairman of the Catholic Society, Ephraim Tristan Paul.

Fr Chan in his sermon emphasised how much the Catholic mission schools in the country viz. La Salle, Convent Bukit Nanas, St John’s, St Paul’s, St Michael’s etc had contributed in terms of good leaders and made the legacy of St John proud. The students were reminded not to sully their school’s name. Although each school has their own song, they all have one thing in common, which is the spirit of La Salle.

A total of 60 students, teachers and parents attended from the three schools. A fellowship and lunch were held after the mass at the school canteen.
