Royals, leaders send Christmas greetings

KUALA LUMPUR: THE king and queen were among prominent figures who extended warm wishes to Malaysians celebrating Christmas while spreading the message of peace and goodwill that is synonymous with every festive celebration in the country. Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin AlMustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah conveyed their seasons greetings December 25 through a special message posted on social media.

‘Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year.

‘May this festive season bring peace, prosperity, goodwill and happiness to all. Warm regards,’ said the message signed off by Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah.

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibnu Almarhum Sultan Iskandar also extended their greetings.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb, paid a visit to St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo to extend Christmas greetings to the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St Mark, Tawadros II. -- Agencies

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar also took to social media to convey festive greetings.

Sultan Ibrahim posted a photo of him and his consort Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah along with the message: “Wishing all Johoreans celebrating Christmas love, joy and peace; and a wonderful time with families and friends.”

Jordan PM congratulates Christians on Christmas

MENAFN: Jordanian Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, on December 25, congratulated Jordanian Christians on the occasions of Christmas and the New Year.

During a visit to the St Mary of Nazareth Church in the capital Amman accompanied by a number of ministers, Razzaz said that such celebrations in the Kingdom reflect our national unity, coexistence and dialogue  among all Jordanians.

Jordan, Razzaz said in the presence of a number heads of churches, senators, and MPs, is a role model of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.

Concluding his speech, Razzaz wished Jordanian Christians a merry Christmas, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II. — JNA
