The Christian Churches of Setapak organised a Christmas parade to spread the joy of Christmas to all on December 14.

It started at the Korean Union Church at 6.00pm. At 6.30, Christmas carols were sung by everyone present.

After that, YB Puan Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kaw, the Wangsa Maju Member of Parliament thanked everyone for their presence and willingness to walk through the streets of Setapak despite the distance and the drizzle. She reminded everyone of the true spirit of Christmas, which is the birth of Christ and what His birth meant to the world.

After that, Archbishop Julian Leow gave words of encouragement for all to go out and spread the spirit of Christmas to as many people, doing so in the name  of Jesus Christ. Finally, everyone lined up in their respective church groups.

Everyone walked behind the floats of their respective churches while following the prescribed parade route.

For Good Shepherd Church, the group was small at first. But along the way, more parishioners joined in and soon enough the small congregation turned into a larger than life parade, with people of all ages and races joining in singing Christmas carols.

People of all walks of life, no matter the race, religion or creed, stopped to watch the parade.

Those in the parade wished the passers-by  Merry Christmas. In this way, we carried out the purpose of Christ’s birth, to bring joy to people.

Finally the parade ended and  the people gathered around the tents set up to sell food, souvenirs etc.

All the funds collected went to charity. If the parade has taught us anything, it’s that the spirit of Christmas should be something that we spread to others in our daily lives in every possible moment.
