62 Orang Asli, mainly children, were present at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer (CMHR) parish hall on Sept 19 to meet with parishioners from the Cathedral of St John in Kuala Lumpur. The Orang Asli came from Kampung Sg Bil and Sg Lembing.

Lunch was served at 1.00pm, after a prayer session in Church. Later, Fr Mani from India, spoke on the importance of the Eucharist.

CMHR parish priest, Fr Anthony Pillai, gave his sharing about how the Orang Asli journeyed into the Catholic faith. Thanks to Fr Anthony Naden who, 30 to 35 years ago while based in Rawang, started to reach out to them with the Good News. Today there are 50 to 60 Catholic families in these villages.

After lunch, everyone assembled in the hall for a short Prayer Session in Bahasa Malaysia. Fr Pillai and Fr Mani were also present. Fr Pillai expressed his thanks to the group from Kuala Lumpur, for organizing the Outreach again.

Thirty Prayer Booklets in Bahasa Malaysia were distributed to the children, as well as 30 YouCat in Bahasa Malaysia for each Catholic family.

Then, several indoor games were organised for the children as well as the adults. All were happy with the prizes they won. Each Orang Asli present also received a gift.

The KL Group had brought along 825kgs of provisions for 50 poor families. There were also stationery and used clothes.

The event was held to bring the Orang Asli from these two villages together, to help them feel that they are part of this parish, and to deepen their sense of belonging. He hoped all of them will deepen their faith in the Lord and come to worship regularly in this parish.

After a Closing Prayer, there was another fellowship sponsored also by the KL Group.
