KUCHING: The popular contemporary Christian song, 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord), was written by Matt Redman and first released in 2011. The students, teachers, staff and friends of St Joseph’s Private School, under the direction of teacher, Benedict JC Lo, came together during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to perform a cover of this song.

The music was mixed by a Form 5 student, Nathan Alan, with vocal and video edited by Benedict JC Lo. A big shout out to all those who participated in this project, either in singing or in playing the various musical instruments. Much hard work and perseverance was put into this project, especially by Benedict Lo.

Special mention is made of Danison Chen, who played the  sape which is a Sarawak Orang Ulu traditional instrument that looks like a guitar. The soothing sound of this instrument complements the worship and praise of this beautiful song.

This video was launched on the Solemnity of St Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus, July 31 this year. St Joseph’s Private Secondary School is managed by the Jesuits. ––Today’s Catholic
