SEREMBAN : With focus on the safety of our Sunday School students, the parish organized a Fire Evacuation Briefing with help from the Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Seremban (JPA3) for all the language groups of the parish. The briefing was to explain to the teachers and students on what to do in case there was a fire at any of the buildings used for the Sunday catechism.

The participants were taken through the do’s and don’ts when a fire occurs, and briefed on the evacuation exits and assembly points. To gauge the readiness of the students, a fire drill was called midway during the classes. The fire alarm was rung, and the evacuation went on smoothly and was completed within the stipulated time. A fire fighting demonstration was done with the assistance of the JPA3 uniformed staff on how to douse a fire using the extinguishers. Asst Parish priest, Fr George Packiasamy had a first hand experience to put out the simulated fire and was given a rousing applause when he successfully put out the fire.

With the drill and all aspects of safety taken, the parish is ready in case a fire was to break out at the Sunday School buildings.

Christ is present in the tabernacle, and having the door of the tabernacle open or closed does not make any difference. His logic seems to be: that the parishioners should be taught to pray and adore the Blessed Sacrament all the time and that the practice of exposition in the monstrance is irrelevant and counterproductive to any real devotion. Your thoughts, please. -- J.L., Cumberland County, New Jersey.
