KUALA LUMPUR : Share Jesus with others was the message for the 58 communicants from the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SHC) and Chapel of Our Lady of Good Health on Nov 8. SHC parish priest, Fr Christopher W. Sooisaipillai administered the sacrament at the multi-lingual Mass.

In his homily, Fr Chris said we need to go deeper into the Readings of the day, which tell us about the blessings we receive when we give to others. We must learn to share what Jesus gives us. Looking at the children, Fr Chris asked whether they would keep Jesus for themselves or share him with others. He went on to state that once we share Jesus with others, we will receive much more and more.

The priest explained in the First Reading (1 Kings 17:10-16) about the widow who gave Elijah food when he asked her. In return for her faith in God, she received abundantly. Referring to the Gospel (Mark 12:38-44), the widow who gave the little money she had, Fr Chris said we too will receive abundantly when we give to others. “Jesus is the Giver. Share with others this same Jesus that you will receive in your First Holy Communion,” Fr Chris asserted.

He also called on the assembly to pray specially for the 58 children that Jesus will fill them with His love and presence and they will become true disciples of Christ.

At the Concluding Prayer, Fr Chris also expressed his appreciation to the catechists and RCIA facilitators of his parish for their untiring efforts to impart the faith to others. Fr Chris then gave a token of appreciation to each of them.

As the parish is celebrating its Golden Jubilee in June next year, Fr Chris also launched the parish website www.shckl.org and thanked the Editorial Team. He welcomed feedback, suggestions and contributions from the parishioners.

The candidates, their parents and godparents, teachers and Fr Chris later adjourned to Dewan Louis Guittat for a brunch fellowship and presentation of certificates. By Bernard Anthony

Christ is present in the tabernacle, and having the door of the tabernacle open or closed does not make any difference. His logic seems to be: that the parishioners should be taught to pray and adore the Blessed Sacrament all the time and that the practice of exposition in the monstrance is irrelevant and counterproductive to any real devotion. Your thoughts, please. -- J.L., Cumberland County, New Jersey.
