Dear Mr Prime Minister, you have failed me.
This is not a letter to tell you where you went wrong. You should already know that by now and if you don’t, many will gladly bring you up to speed.
But this is a letter to tell you what you have done to an ordinary Malaysian like me.
I voted against your government in the last elections but when you came into power, I allowed myself a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, I was wrong about you.
That, just maybe, this time, the perceived enemy would be an ally in disguise. That, just maybe, 1 Malaysia wouldn’t be the joke at which everyone laughed.
Change needs time and maybe, just maybe, that was what was necessary. So, against my better judgement, I let myself believe in possibilities.
Then racism reared its head and the moment of truth arrived in the form of cow-head protestors, BTN and the “Allah” issue.
You couldn’t have asked for more perfect opportunity to prove that you are more than just a string of clever words. It was your chance to leave a legacy by uniting the nation to stand up against the real enemies – ignorance and fear.
Instead you did nothing, and by doing that, you turned us against each other.
I’m sure you have your litany of reasons for acting the way you have but those reasons don’t interest me. All I know is that, when it really mattered, you made me feel like I didn’t.
When it came to delivering on your “People First” promise, you chose who those people would be.
When it came to “Performance Now”, you failed to see the sense of urgency.
You became everything you told us not to be. To me, you are nothing more than the wizard of Oz.
There was a time when I believed in this country. When I couldn’t imagine making a home anywhere else. When I was proud to hold a Malaysian passport. When I felt warmth each time I heard the pilot announce, “Welcome to Kuala Lumpur International Airport”. When I took pride in showing off my country to foreign friends who marvelled at how Malaysians lived so peacefully in diversity. Those days are gone.
So forget about how this will affect tourism and FDIs, and think instead about the damage it has done to an ordinary Malaysian like me.
You have made a mockery out of my trust, patriotism and faith. You have made me feel unwelcome in my own home. You have made me feel ashamed to be Malaysian.
My heart breaks at what you have done to my country. Then again, I’m not even sure if I can still call it my country anymore.

It is never about racism, yes, it is all about religion, and the real issue is, being tolerance towards each other. No pointing fingers, but, I personally never saw a copy of non-muslim articles, books or magazines, in Malay language, that didn't include this, "For Non-Muslim Only". I may have missed them, but I never see one. Or, could it be, like all the alcohol products, lottery and cigarette, you can't never stop them not to get these stuffs, despite of all these 'warnings' -not for the comsumption of certain groups. Could it be possible? Not that I'm suggesting the non-muslims encouraged all these 'consumptions' amongst them. So, the point is, be rationale and tolerance. We've been co-exist for hundred of years, with all those words also used by some of us, so why now? We are learned men, and we don't get confused far too easily, aren't we?

I think the comment by BNL is really uncalled for. You said to the writer-if you feel you are out of place to leave the country? Well it is easy for you to say when all benefits are given on a silver plate and free to a particular section of the population and the other section of the population-though are citizens- with the same MYKad in this country had to worked very hard to survive or study hard with own hard earned money just to send their children to further their studies in private universities.Further you are also still under your 'tempurung'- Allah is an Arabic word used long before the dawn of Islam by Arabic Christians and others. The Indonesia Muslims and Chrstians also used Allah as a term for God in their language when praying. So what the fussed you make allegation that Christians are seen to be bleshemy to some? As for foreign investors- pls go checked that most are not investing in the country especially from Europe and USA/ Latin America due to excessive Corruption in the country and unfair laws that compled them to give a 30% share to Bumiputras. Do you see this happening in India, China or elsewhere? Pls do not compare gaint countries like India and China to a small country like Malaysia and also in terms of population wise. Without enough foreign investors and the brain-drain by Malaysians to other countries- the country will not be able to acheive Vision 2020. I think you need to aksed yourself- Am I being fair to the other races in the country as a Malaysian? Maybe if you feel ashamed, you might want to go elsewhere. The writer has a love for the country- called Malaysia, her homeland!

I accept certain portion's of the writer's statement. There is certainly there are room for improvement.Blaming it on the Prime minster,is truly ridiculous. It's higly impossible, for any Leader of anticipate any form of unruly incidents.Even,If you live in some other western nation's,this can occur. In some case's more violent demonstrations. The muslim,at community at large had condemed the attack's carried out on the churches.Muslims had used the term "Allah" had all this while, the persistance effort to use it by certain christians had seen as blashmey to some.Frankly,I don't mind the christians using the word,as long as it clearly stated "It's for christians only"....Taking about foreign investor's,You are telling, just because of such minor incident, the entire foriegn investor's are quit malaysia. This is most naive statement I have ever read.when china clamped down violently,on it's citizens during the olympic game's,The investor's were not detered. When India was under attack on Mumbai and the violent clampdown on authorities by maoist communist guerillas is also not detered any investors.Maybe christian affialted orgainstion might be
tempted to,But the mainstream Foriegn investor's and Islamic Banking investor's are still find malaysia ideal place to do business. The reality is "whatever action there will be opposite action"......I suggest the reader feel out of place in malaysia,Maybe you should leave malaysia for good.

Its not about racism. Its about religion.Look around you. There are bumiputera from Sabah and Serawak who proffessed Christianity and not necessarily RC. The Muslims in Malaysia are not all Malays and bumiputera. So thing again and if you no longer want to call Malaysia your country then you have failed yourself and what you believe in if you have any belief

I think it is not the PM that failed us or you! It is the policies of the government of the day that has failed a big section of the society we lived in.Especially the non-Muslims. If the country or government really sincere in wanting to unite the rakyat (peoples) with the 1Malaysia slogan; then it must have policies that will be fair and acceptable across the board- all citizens who are Malaysians should benefit- not just Muslims or Bumiputras. As long as there are policies that divide the races in the country- it is impossible to unite everyone who calls themselves Malaysians. The PM has a duty. 53 years ago and now is vast different. Everything has changed. If the policies that divide the country or peoples are not changed- don't expect foreign investors coming back in droves, don't expect unity can be achieved, perhaps on the surface only like what we see now.Don't expect the country could moved forward and compete, don't expect braindrain to stop...
