After some fifty-four years, the Teachers’ Christian Fellowship Malaysia (TCFM) is still strong, as steadfast members come together and encouraging each other in prayer and deed.

According to a TCFM spokesperson at its office in Subang Jaya, the group exists to help members or TCFers as they are fondly known, to become the teachers God intended, with better understanding of the profession’s requirements whilst enjoying its challenges.

Taking a quote from American Parker Palmer, author, founder and senior partner of the Centre for Courage and Renewal, “We become teachers for reasons of the heart. But many of us lose heart as time goes by. How can we take heart alone, when together, we can give heart to our students and our world?”

Towards this aim, TCFM, from time to time, organises seminars, sessions for reflection and retreat, mission trips, camping holidays, regional meetings and conferences. the publication of quarterly newsletters (IN STEP), to keep members focussed on issues in education, community, leadership, spirituality and social change.

Malaysian Christians who are committed to their respective faiths, and who share the TCFM vision, are encouraged to join up as members, either ordinary or associate, commented the spokesperon.

The ordinary membership is open to all Malaysian Christian educators above the age of eighteen years while for associates, it is for all those Malaysians who are undergoing teacher training, and Christians who are not teachers but are in tandem with the aims of the fellowship.
