KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes wrote of his pride in meeting Pope Francis.

“Met many leaders, Kings, Queens, celebrities but today was incredible — to meet Pope Francis. My Dad would have been super happy.

“Simple, humble, smart, outspoken, a man of the people. He (the Pope) gave me encouragement that business leaders can make a difference to society and gave me the energy to continue,”

Fernandes wrote in his latest update on his trip to the Vatican. Fernandes added that he had also asked the pontiff to pray for Malaysia.

“I asked him to pray for our country so that all races could love each other, and together build a better country. “I am incredibly lucky to have been in the presence of this tower of a man. He opened my eyes and gave me energy and strength to continue to do good,” he shared on FB in the post which was accompanied by a photo showing the Pope clasping Fernandes’ hands. --FMT
