KOTA KINABALU: The United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) will soon submit its input on a new standard operating procedure (SOP) to Putrajaya to ensure Sabah and Sarawak-bound Christian materials are no longer seized.

In a statement released in Kota Kinabalu on June 18, UPKO acting president, Datuk Madius Tangau, said this was the party’s resolve on the matter during the Barisan Nasional (BN) administrative meeting chaired by the deputy prime minister on June 11, and again at the BN supreme council meeting chaired by the prime minister in Kuala Lumpur on June 12.

Tangau, who is also Tuaran MP, said UPKO’s stand was based on the first precept of the Rukun Negara, which was Kepercayaan Kepada Tuhan (Belief in God).

Late last year, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup announced that the department would work on a new SOP, in the wake of an incident where the customs department at KLIA2 on October 25 last year, seized 574 books, 419 CDs and five DVDs which were brought by a Sabahan Christian, Maklin Masiau from Medan, Indonesia. -- Bernama
