KUALA LUMPUR: This year saw the introduction of many new aspects in the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Good Health, Kampung Pandan. Due to the pandemic, a creative way was used to connect to the people to the celebration. In lieu of a physical walk, a virtual procession with the recitation of the rosary was broadcast online. It was a culmination of the nine day novena and Mass.

The beauty of Faith and the oneness of the event was seen in various churches and chapels dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health from Pagoh, Gadong, Assam Jawa, Parit Buntar, Ipoh to Kampung Pandan. They came together as a family of believers and recited the rosary, decade by decade as an individual parish, yet together in the one universal Church.

“The privilege of collaborating with the many parishes was inspiring and it brought calm and  inner peace as we recited the rosary and shared joy in celebrating the feast with all,” said Jennyfer from the chapel of Our Lady of Good Health, Temiang Renchong, Pagoh.

Arul Thiban from the Chapel of Annai Velankani, Gadong, articulated that it was a blessing, as it gave others the opportunity to  witness and see the various places of worship dedicated to Our Lady that people would not have known if you had not been there. He felt overwhelmed and recognised that it was not only the celebration for the various parishes, but it brought about a self-evaluation on their relationship with God and Mother Mary.

For newlywed couple John Wong and Anna Teoh from the Chapel at Kampung Pandan, it was about inviting Mother Mary into their lives and family to intercede for them.  As they recited the Rosary they felt closer to Our Lady.

Ann Elizabeth from PIHDM immediately felt the presence of  Mother Mary watching over all of them and she was filled with joy.

It also made an impact on our budding cinematographer, Danial Francis, a youngster from the Media Ministry who while formulating the sequence of the visuals and all the works that go into a production, was touched with an increase in his own personal faith. With all the challenges involved in making such a production, he recognised it was a gift from God to be able to share this virtual procession with the people at large.

None of this would have been possible if not for the idea mooted by Fr Edwin Peter. His dedication and support extended to all during the recitation and recording  of the virtual rosary. The Feast of Our Lady of Good Health turned out to be a gift to all who have a devotion to Mother Mary. It also brought in new believers to a relationship with God and with Mother Mary
