KUALA LUMPUR: Youths from the Diocese of Malacca Johore and the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur who are participating in the World Youth Day celebrations in Panama were given a send off on January 5 and 6, 2019.

A Mass was celebrated on Jan 5 at St James Chapel, Majodi Centre for the youths of Malacca Johore Diocese.

“We need to use God’s eyes to see everything. In life we need to be aware of God’s signs and be courageous,” said Bishop Bernard Paul in his homily. He also shared on the message of the Extraordinary Missionary Year.

Then while singing the World Youth Day theme song, the youths placed a drawing of themselves around the manger. Using these symbols, Bishops Bernard will continue to pray for the youths while they are in Panama.

After the Mass, Bishop Bernard blessed the Malaysian and Diocesan flags which the youths took along to Panama.

In Kuala Lumpur Archdiocese, the Mass was celebrated at the Chapel in Cardijn House on Jan 6, 2019.

“Always remember that Jesus is in you. He is not outside or somewhere else,” said Archbishop Julian Leow in his homily.

“Remember the journey that you went through — all the formations, and be committed to God’s plan,” he reminded them.

After Mass, the youths shared on their spiritual journey and mission with Archbishop Leow.

The pilgrims from the other Arch/Dioceses will be having their send off within the week.

Let us continue to pray for all the pilgrims for their health and safety, that they may encounter Jesus in new and special ways and that they will go forth as salt and light to the people they meet on their journey.
