The youths of the Church of St Francis De Sales (SFDS) had a gathering on June 10 at the open field adjacent to the church. The main aim of this gathering was to foster unity amongst the youths of the Parish and this event was graced by parish priest Fr Vincent Paul.

The facilitator, Mercy Rita felt that every youth in the parish must play his or her role with responsibility. The younger generation must equip themselves with knowledge and skills. They must make a point to work closely at every event organised by the church and activate values of friendship amongst themselves. They must adhere to their responsibilities to the church and community.

About 85 youths from all the BECs attached to SFDS parish gathered at the church compound for this celebration based on the theme Come and explore your faithfullness.

To achieve all this, the organising committee made an effort, together with all leaders from the various BECs, to draw a programme for the day which began at 9.00 am and concluded at 4.30 pm. The activities drawn up for the day were as follows:

a. Bible Smuggler;
b. Water Sponge;
c. Ultimate Soccer
d. Tug of War;
e Zombie Apocalypse;
f. French & English.

Of the activities, the most exciting one was the “Tug of War.’ There was excitement from both the participants as well as those who were present.

Andrew, the PPC Chairman was the compere for the day and he did an excellent job. He was very creative and made this day exciting and enjoyable.

All the participants had a meaningful sharing when they had their meals together as a family. Some parents and well wishers were present to give support for their children in their efforts to promote unity, love, passion and happiness.

The parish priest also gave wholehearted support for this event and showed much concern in the care of the youths in his parish. At the end, all the participants were awarded a token of appreciation.
