JOHOR: The Church of the Immaculate Conception organised the Persons Are Gifts (PAG) camp for the fifth consecutive year at Majodi Centre June 8-10. This camp is an opportunity for young people to discover themselves and others as gifts.

There were 49 participants aged 14 and 15 years old. Using the analogy of the gift, the participants learned that the person is more important than his/her appearance and that people come in different shapes and sizes, with their own unique characteristics and gifts. The camp speakers were helped by a wonderful outreach team made up of PAG graduates. There were also guest speakers who shared their own life experiences.

The main objective of the camp was to help the participants recognise their gifts, talents and the people in their lives as gifts. The camp also aimed to help the participants realise that every experience and encounter in their life will shape who they become. At the end of the camp, all that they had learnt was brought into the context of relationships: boy-girl, parent-child and God.

Throughout the camp, the emphasis was that each one is a gift that must be appreciated in relationships of love, acceptance and forgiveness. The dynamics of the camp were inputs, group dynamics, group sharing, talent night, praise and worship, prayer sessions and games.

Intercessory prayers by parents and other individuals was a key part of the camp and culminated with Mass with their parents.

The organisers would also like to express their gratitude towards our very supportive parish priest, Fr Edward Rayappan and the participants’ parents who saw to all the needs of the camp which made it memorable. We humbly request for continued prayers for the participants to have a closer relationship with one another and with God. We are looking forward to the PAG camp next year, for His Greater Glory!
