KOTA KINABALU: A seven-member delegation from Kota Kinabalu’s Archdiocesan Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerants (ACMI) paid a courtesy call on the newly assigned Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Rafail Walangitan on May 24, 2022. The team was led by its Head of Commission, Dominic Lim, and accompanied by spiritual adviser, Fr Ambrose Atang.
Rafail, who arrived in Kota Kinabalu last February said, “I am very grateful that the local community, such as your group, is reaching out to help the Indonesian community.”
During the visit, ACMI discussed several issues regarding the Indonesian migrants in Sabah, specifically those residing within the Kota Kinabalu Archdiocese. Two major topics were - the registration of marriage by Indonesian couples and the concern for education among the children of Indonesian migrants.
After one and a half hours of discussion, there were several suggestions for concrete actions on how to go about the issues raised. Rafail then invited his guests to adjourn for lunch.
