Forty-four members of BECs of St Theresa’s Parish organized a one-day trip on Saturday, Sept 12 as part of their activities for this year.

The bus left St Theresa’s Church at 7.00am. Everyone received a booklet with hymns, prayers and Gospel texts prepared by Eric Currier (BEC Malim) and also hymns in Hokkien prepared by Susan Lee (BEC Kota Laksamana).

The first stop was the Church of the Holy Family, Kajang. There, they read and reflected on the Gospel text, Lk 6:43-49 (text of the day), prayed a decade of the Rosary and had some personal time with the Lord. Later, parish priest, Fr Surain Durai Raj, welcomed them and expressed his intention to make the Church of the Holy Family a pilgrimage Church for families.

The BEC members had breakfast at the nearby food stalls before leaving for Sekinchan.

In Sekinchan, they spent some time at the beach before going for lunch. Then they went to the rice mill. Many bought the freshly milled brown and white rice. They also bought some local products.

The next stop was St Jude’s Church, Rawang. They prayed the evening prayer, read and reflected on the Gospel of Mk 8:27-35 (Sunday Gospel Reading).

On the way home, theystopped at Seremban for dinner. Though tired, it was really a day well spent with the visit to the two churches. Along the journey they prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Rosary. The Hokkien hymn Qin Jia Ho became the theme song for the trip. We sang this hymn many times during the journey, acknowledging the ‘goodness of our God.’ As BECs, going on a trip together is good as it further strengthens the bonds.
