It was an occasion of double rejoicing, with Bro Ambrose Loke and the St Francis Institution alumni — in particular the Class of 1976 —taking the spotlight.

Bro Ambrose marked his golden jubilee as a LaSallian religious brother, his silver jubilee as Brother Director of the St Francis Institution and his birthday. It was a great day to render thanks to God.

To mark the occasion, a dinner was hosted at the Sheraton Restaurant in Taman Melaka Raya. Loyal Franciscans, both old and young, retired and current teachers and school staff, as well as visitors from Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya were present to celebrate with him.

On June 28, 1962, a young postulant, Augustine Loke, together with six others received their religious habit from the then visiting Brother Superior-General Rev Bro Nicet Joseph at the St Joseph’s Novitiate in Pulau Tikus, Penang. This particular postulant took on the religious name of Bro Ambrose to begin his journey as a LaSalle Brother. The rest of the story is ‘now history in the making’.
