Cardinal Celso Costantini, the first Apostolic Delegate to China, founded the Congregation of the Disciples of the Lord (CDD) in 1927. Soon the local diocesan clergy from the various provinces came to join the Community. Thus, a religious house was founded in Beijing.

The Second World War broke out soon after the foundation of the religious order, thus affecting its development. Subsequently, the mother house was moved to Shanghai and, finally, to Taipei.

A good number of the CDD seminarians and fathers were sent to several countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States of America and Italy.

In 1957, the CDD Fathers were invited to Bentong in Pahang, Malaysia to take charge of the Catholic High School and several parishes in the Pahang State.

The CDD Fathers have built the Church of St Ignatius (pic) and a religious house in Petaling Jaya, as well as a minor seminary in Malacca.

Two Malaysians had served as Superiors General of the CDD. They are Fr Steven Ng CDD and Fr John Chia CDD. The current Provincial of the CDD Fathers in Malaysia is Fr Lucas Ng CDD.
