VATICAN: Cardinal Pietro Parolin (pic right), the Vatican’s Secretary of State, has called upon Muslim leaders to “condemn without ambiguity, all acts of terrorism committed in the name of Islam” and to “teach clearly the total incompatibility between violence and religion.”
The prelate made his remarks in the course of an interview with the Spanish weekly Vida Nueva. In the same interview, the cardinal said that “errors” in the handling of economic transfers had prompted the calls for reform in the Vatican’s financial system. Those reforms are now underway, he continued, and more recent claims about corruption and mismanagement are exaggerated. “The economic and financial management of the Holy See is less problematic than it is sometimes represented to be,” he said. -- CWN
