The purpose was to provide training to the laity, volunteers and Caritas staff so that more people can learn how to share the good news through writing, photography or videography, with everyone especially those who are involved in the Church’s social mission

The virtual writing workshop presented the basic questions for journalists to use: the 5Ws and 1H - What, Who, When, Where, Why and How?

The speaker was Karen Arukesamy, a professional journalist who currently works in Digi Telecommunications’s Corporate Communications division. She is also the President of Signis Malaysia.

Karen discussed the basic questions commonly used by journalists namely 5W and 1H. According to her, these questions are important for journalists in order to gath er news material to be published, and also when presenting it.

Apart from that, she has also discussed the form of writing from various angles, constructing the  content of the writing and how to evaluate the content based on those basic questions.
