The Sacrement of Confirmation was celebrated for the first time at the Chapel of St Anthony, Slim River (previously named Chapel of St Christopher) on Sunday, October 25. Nine young people from Tanjong Malim and Slim River, who had  prepared for their confirmation, received the sacrament from Bishop Sebastian Francis.

Concelebrating with Bishop Sebastian, were Perak Dean, Fr Michael  Dass, and Parish Priest, Fr Anthony Pillai. Bishop Sebastian, in his homily, expressed his satisfaction at the celebration being held in the chapel at Slim River, rather than at the main parish at Tanjong Malim. This fulfills the reminder of Pope Francis to give special attention to parishes at the periphery of the diocese. Bishop Sebastian also used the occasion to announce about the “Door of Mercy” which will be officially launched in the Sacred  Heart Church, Kampar, on the feast of the Immaculate Conception. He added that we should have the two qualities of humility and repentance to enter the Door of Mercy.

Before the final blessing, the Bishop handed tokens to the the nine confirmands, and two others, who had received baptism earlier. The day ended with a fellowship among teachers, parents and parishioners.
