PENANG: Charis Malaysia organised a weekend recently where Charismatic youth leaders across Malaysia gathered to bond and discern the needs of the youth in the renewal.

The gathering which was held at Stella Maris was attended by 20 youth leaders from various Charismatic and Covenant communities. Facilitating the sessions were Anthony Lim, Coordinator of Charis Malaysia, as well as Paul Julianose and Catherine Lee, Charis Malaysia Youth Leaders.

The weekend commenced with ice-breakers facilitated by Samuel Theivendran, Coordinator of Seeds Ministry. This time of icebreaking allowed leaders to get to know each other better.

In one of the sessions, Anthony Lim shared his experience in the renewal, and how Christ as well as His gifts and charisms in us are still alive, relevant and ever new today. Anthony also went on to address several important factors to promote and ensure the growth of the Charismatic Renewal here in Malaysia.

Chris Luke Felix from FIAT Ministry spoke about the importance of prioritising God in all things, especially in the ministry we serve in. The aspect of personal holiness, which is primarily inculcated through prayer, was given emphasis. Chris also mentioned that all that we give when we serve is what we have first received from Christ Himself.

The youth leaders were also given the opportunity to discern the direction and needs of the renewal in the coming year. It is hoped that more such weekends will be held in the future to enable the leaders to gather and continue to encourage each other.

Other sessions for the day included a time of prophetic intercessions led by Jonathan Charanraj and soaking worship led by Jasmin Joseph, Gregory Domnic and Monica Merli. These sessions allowed participants to dwell in His presence and seek His heart for the youth in Malaysia.

The weekend ended with a forum on Discipleship, where Mary Voon, John Paul Felix and Chris Luke Felix shared their experience discipling other young people and the creative approaches they have used.
