CHERAS: The spirit of Christmas shone brightly as the Commission for Human Development of the Church the St Francis of Assisi (SFA) successfully organised its 2024 Christmas Mission at Kg Belihoi, Mantin, Negeri Sembilan.

The event, which aimed to spread the joy and hope of Christmas to the Orang Asli community, was filled with meaningful activities, heartfelt fellowship, and a celebration of unity.

The day began with Mass, celebrated by Fr Christopher Soosaipillai, which set a reverent tone for the occasion. The Mass reminded everyone of the true essence of Christmas — the birth of Jesus Christ — and the call to share God’s love with others.

After the Mass, the Orang Asli community, along with volunteers from the church, engaged in a variety of activities designed to bring joy and foster bonding. Children’s games and carolling by the SFA youth group filled the atmosphere with laughter and cheer, while adults participated in lively games that encouraged camaraderie.

A fellowship lunch followed, offering a moment to strengthen relationships and share the blessings of the season. The event’s highlight was the distribution of gifts and groceries to the Orang Asli families, made possible by the generosity of donors and the parishioners of SFA.

“I am deeply touched by the joy and gratitude shown by the community today,” said one volunteer. “It is a reminder of how much of an impact we can make when we work together for a common cause.”

The event concluded with a closing prayer, thanking God for His blessings and guidance throughout the day. Volunteers and participants worked together to clean the venue, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the mission

The Christmas Mission not only brought smiles, joy, and hope to the Orang Asli community but also inspired all involved to continue serving with love and compassion. This successful event is a testament to the power of unity, faith, and generosity. As one participant remarked, “This is what Christmas is all about — sharing joy and being a light for others.”
This mission would not have been possible without the unwavering support of volunteers, benefactors, and the entire SFA community. Together, we witnessed God’s love in action, bringing hope and happiness to those in need. May this Christmas season continue to inspire everyone to serve with love, humility, and compassion.
