IPOH: A bi-lingual Mass was held on November 22 where 16 English-speaking and 11 Mandarin-speaking youth received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Bishop Sebastian Francis in his homily introduced the Litany of the Asian Saints and Martyrs.

He led the congregation, comprising mainly the parents, relatives, godparents and friends of the confirmands, to pray to the saints for all the confirmands.

Many felt nervous and excited at the Confirmation ceremony. Gabriel Chan, 16 commented, “I felt very spiritually blessed and closer to God.”

Caroline Francis, also 16, said that she was going through a rollercoaster of sorts because events of the outside world, like exams, were troubling her, while she was anticipating the huge moment in her life, the coming of the Holy Spirit. “During the anointing with chrism oil, all those tumultuous emotions just settled into a serene sort of calm,” she continued.

We pray for all the Confirmands that, filled with the Holy Spirit, they will carry on the work of the Father as His disciples.

Emulate the Asian saints and martyrs
