KUALA LUMPUR (Herald Malaysia): The Myanmar refugee children were beaming with joy on Dec 13 when the members of the BEC St Jerome (Pandan Indah) of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus paid a visit to their Zotung Refugees School in Kuala Lumpur, to bring early Christmas cheer to them.
The BEC members led by Coordinator Andrew Amaladass, organized a Christmas Party for the students, whose ages ranged from 6 to 15 years. The 42 students were fascinated and eagerly participated in the indoor games organized by the visitors. The children also sang several Christmas carols to entertain their guests. In return, the BEC members gave the children presents and ‘ang pows’.
The BEC members brought food that they had earlier prepared for the fellowship with the children and their teachers, who were also present. All mingled together and got to know the children better.
Before saying farewell to the children, the BEC members also gave some provisions to the Zotung Refugee School. The teachers were pleased with the BEC visit. With this visit, the BEC members hoped they had brought God’s love to the refugees and in return, learnt how to share the spirit of Christmas with the less fortunate and underprivileged.
