The Youth Ministry of Good Shepherd Church (GSC) recently organized a Youth Leadership Camp to develop and empower young future leaders of the Church. The 3-day camp, held from the 31st of January to 1st of February, saw 41 young participants from the parish, aged 18 and above, coming together to learn and equip themselves with leadership skills, particularly in the area of youth leadership in the Church.
With the theme L.E.A.D.E.R. Like Jesus, which is an acronym for “Learn, Engage, Advocate, Develop, Empower and Reach Out Like Jesus”, participants were taken through each topic in detail, and were trained to lead, based on how Jesus has taught and led his disciples.
Working together with the Catechetical Ministry of the Parish, the topics were presented by several experienced catechism teachers as well as youth advisors and former youth leaders.
Throughout the camp, the participants were also immersed in constant praise and worship led by the young worship team of the parish. This enabled the participants to be not only equipped mentally, but also spiritually.
The camp ended with the election of the new Youth Ministry Executive Committee for the term 2015 to 2016.
Parish priest, Fr VA Michael expressed his confidence in the GSC Youth Ministry and has elucidated his plans for the growth of this Ministry, in particular as a key focus for this year.
