KUCHING: City folk woke up to a rainy and gloomy morning today, with some low-lying areas hit by floods.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Assistant Director (Operation) Farhan Sufyan Borhan said following a heavy downpour since 3am, several villages have been affected, but it hasn't required any evacuation yet.
As of 11am, Kampung Nada, Muara Tabuan, Kampung Tabuan Dayak, Kampung Bako Indah dan Kampung Hijrah, Bako, Taman Desa Wira and Kampung Beradek were inundated with two-feet of rainwater.
"Everything is still under control and we are monitoring the situation closely. So far there's no evacuation yet but we are working with the Welfare Department to transport food items to villagers of Kampung Beradek using boats," he said when contacted.--NST
