Forty-six confirmands receive the Holy Spirit

Forty-six youth received the Holy Spirit at the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Anne’s, Bukit Mertajam on Sunday, June 5.

The Mass was celebrated by the Bishop of Penang, Bishop Sebastian Francis, with parish priest Msgr Rev Fr Henry Rajoo concelebrating.

Bishop Sebastian in his homily said, “I pray for all of you, that your faith grows deeper. May your hope grow strong. May your love grow wider. Anything besides this, your life becomes boring. Ask the Holy Spirit to assist you, all the time.”

“In today’s first reading from the Book of Kings, we hear about a widow who loses her son and Elijah who restores him to life through prayers. Just like Elijah prayed, I too pray for you — may the Holy Spirit dwell within you.”

He ended the homily with a strong message to the confirmands that the most rational, logical thing to do as a disciple of Jesus Christ, is to rejoice. Jesus will fulfil His promise.

The rite of confirmation took place after the homily.

After Communion, the youth gave an amazing song performance, followed by a group photo session. Later they received their certificates from the Bishop.

These confirmands had been preparing for their Confirmation journey since last year. They attended the Theology of the Body camp, as well as a pre-Confirmation camp by Martin Jalleh.
