The 30th Youth Monthly Gathering (YMG) themed Hello Jesus was held on March 23 at the Holy Trinity Parish. The youths were invited to involve themselves in Church programmes organized by the youths for the youths. YMG is a monthly programme to share information as well as to build relationships with newcomers. In conjunction with the Season of Lent, the theme Hello Jesus was chosen because the objective of the 30th gathering was to bring the youths to reflect upon their preparations to celebrate Easter. The programme began at 1.30pm and ended at 4.30pm the same day.

The youths gathered at the Holy Trinity Church hall for a short briefing and prayer led by Sr Jurgen. The programme began with two short video clips of the story of the 10 Commandments and another about Jesus always being there for us. The youths were asked to open the scrolls that they were given earlier. The scrolls were letters from Jesus. They were asked to read and reflect on the essence of the letters, after which they had to send Jesus a reply based on their personal experiences. After the replies were written, the youths had to kneel and submit their personal messages through prayer during the submission session. Taize chants were conducted to help them appreciate and understand the journey they were on.

After the submission session, a short catechesis was shared by Sr Selvia to emphasize the objectives of the gathering. Among them was an invitation to practise the teaching of the Catholic Church in their daily lives so that they will become good examples to the community as well as fulfilling the objectives of Lent by prayer, fasting and alms giving.

Speak Up was another sharing session to find out the benefits gained through this monthly gathering, the moments that touched them and the action they were going to take throughout the season of Lent to make them more aware of their achievement and to use them in a practical manner in their daily lives.

The 30th YMG gathering closed with a short prayer led by Sr Esther followed by a photo session.
